AEROBIC EXERCISE

WHAT IS AEROBIC EXERCISE?

Most everyone is aware that aerobic exercise is good for you. This exercise is particularly important for someone who wants to lose weight or maintain their present weight. The reason it works because it burns excess calories that your body would normally process and store as fat.

In addition, exercise can enhance your mental attitude, be a stress reliever and increase the amount of endorphins that your body produces. You could say exercise can put you on a natural high!

An aerobic exercise consists of any kind of physical activity that will make you use your large muscles and make you breathe hard. It includes walking, jogging, swimming, dancing, bicycling, rowing, skating, skiing, using machines and most any sport.

It can either be low impact or high impact.

Low impact basically means any type of exercise where you get to keep at least one foot on the floor at all times. High impact will generally have you doing things that will take both of your feet off of the floor. For example, walking would be considered low impact exercise while jogging would be considered a high impact.

Getting Started
When beginners first start an aerobic exercise program many of them burn themselves out from the start. It is important that beginners start at a very low intensity and gradually increase their workouts over time. Busting out of the gate and being gung ho about starting a new program is wonderful. However, your body may not be as psyched or as prepared for it as your mind and motivation factor is. If you burn your body up within a few days it will begin to protest and you will probably be in pain and not be able to continue your program for a while. This is a major pitfall for beginners. Stopping a exercise program can easily lead to never doing it again. So, start slow and gradually work your time and intensity up over a few weeks.

Something else that beginners should keep in mind.

Aerobic exercise should be something that is enjoyed, not something that is torture or a chore to complete. You should choose an exercise that fits your personality. If you like to be around people and dance, you should look around for a or dance class. If you like to be alone, you would probably do well walking, jogging, biking, or swimming. You may also benefit from purchasing an exercise machine and exercising in the privacy of your own home.

No matter what type of aerobic exercise you do. You will start to reap many health benefits.

1. Having a healthy heart.

2. More energy.

3. Increased endurance.

4. Lowering your blood pressure.

5. Reducing the chances that you will develop diabetes.

6. Lowering your bad cholesterol.

7. Increasing the good cholesterol.

8. Your cardiovascular system will be more efficient.

9. Over time you will begin to have more muscle than fat.

10. You will be able to lose weight and maintain your weight.

11. You will be able to cope with stress easier.

If you perform an aerobic exercise you should start to see changes in your body and how you feel within a month. Your fitness and health level will show a marked improvement within three months. The key is working out consistently, at least three or four times a week.

So what are waiting on? Get outside and enjoy yourself, your body will thank you! Get those endorphins flowing!
