EXERCISE FOR WOMEN

Exercise for women in crucial, no matter their age or fitness level. The benefits of exercise are numerous and they can greatly enhance a woman’s life. To put it plainly, all women should exercise regardless of their age or fitness level.

Many people used to think that young female teens really did not have to worry about whether they were getting enough exercise. However society has changed so much in the last fifty years that exercise even for young women, is necessary. With television, computers and the demands of school work young female teens are not getting the physical exercise that they need.

There is no doubt that today’s women are less healthy than women of previous generations. With the rise of cardiovascular disease, obesity and other ailments it is important that female teens are introduced to the benefits of exercise as early as possible. Teaching teens about exercise and having them make it a part of their lives as early as possible can protect their health down the road.

What do women tend to complain about the most during midlife?

For most women their chief complaint is weight gain. Weight can creep up on a woman over the years and before she knows it she may have twenty or more pounds to lose. There are differing opinions as to why some women tend to gain weight as they grow older. Some people believe it is due to changes in hormones while other people believe that is due to a decrease in lean muscle tissue which can result in a woman having a slower metabolism.

It is known that exercise is crucial and that women who exercise have leaner muscles, a higher metabolism and less weight gain throughout their lives. Research is also showing that exercise for women can also control or alleviate some of the common ailments that plague middle aged women. Such as high cholesterol, arthritis, high blood pressure and diabetes. Exercise for women is also beneficial because it can help stay off some of the effects of osteoporosis.

Exercise is not just for teens and middle aged women, senior women are encouraged to exercise also.

Many older adult women have problems with decreased muscle strength, endurance and flexibility. This can result in a senior woman being unable to do routine things such as carrying groceries, climbing a flight of stairs or being able to lift themselves off of the floor should they fall. Senior women who start exercising can see improvements in their muscles, strength, endurance and flexibility.
