HOME EXERCISE

Home exercise is something we can all do and a great way to stay in shape.

Start with a few exercises every day and get back to that weight you’ve been dreaming about. Exercising isn’t just for fitness buffs and those trying to lose weight. Many doctors will recommend you do some exercises after you’ve been injured. This helps in a speedy recovery.

When I was in physical therapy I was given a list of home exercises that I had to do. The number one problem with most people is actually doing as they are told. That was my case for sure. When I would stop doing the workouts I would start to feel the pain. Once I started actually doing what I was instructed to do I saw improvement I was on the road to recovery. It only took a few months and I was able to stop going to therapy.

Home exercise doesn’t mean you have to go out and buy a bunch of machines. Many times you don’t have to buy anything depending on what you want to do at home.

Here is a list of basic home exercises to help get you started:

1.Sit-ups

2.Push-ups

3.Knee raises

4.Running or walking in place

5.Squatting

6.Jumping Jacks

7.lunges

These are all exercises you can do at home. Keep in mind before doing any exercises you should do some warm up stretches before and after. This will keep you from pulling any muscles.

Depending on your conditioning, try starting with about 30 minutes maximum and exercising every other day. As time goes by you can increase the time and the frequency. You know your body best. So use good judgment and do not push yourself to the burnout point.

If you are ready for home equipment but you don’t have a lot of money. Use a little bit of creativity. If you really wanted to buy a stair stepper but don’t have the money look around your house to see what you have.

If you have a two story house try walking up and down your stairs. Try a set of 3, see how you feel and go from there. Or you can just use the bottom two stairs to get in some basic exercise. Use the steps like a step aerobics class. Instead of buying an exercise ball find one of your child’s balls. Make sure the ball isn’t too hard, if it is a little deflated that is perfect. You just saved yourself $20. Need some weights? Try filling a plastic jug with sand. Do you have a driveway with any length? Do laps around your drive.

Remember the most basic of the above exercises are using your own body weight. Start with those, you will be surprised at the workout you can get just by using your body weight. The point is just get started!

There are a some things that you might need if you are doing any exercise that your doctor recommended. Most of the time they will give you the items needed. Especially if your insurance is covering the cost. But if they don’t here are a few things that will come in handy. A resistance band can be used in strengthening your legs, arms, shoulders, joints, etc.. A stretching strap will come in handy when you need to do stretching exercises.

There are many things you can do at home to improve your health. Home exercise is something everyone can do and you don’t have to worry about others watching. Many times a person will refuse to go to a gym because they are worried about being watched and judged. However now you can do everything at home with just a few home exercise routines. Get in shape and stay that way.
